Nice little market. I intentionally went to California Street Market for tamales. After overcoming a language barrier, I was able to purchase frozen tamales to take home and eat the next day (they have some warm tamales ready for purchase and eat.) I tried cheese & jalapeño and chicken tamales. The chicken were delicious, the cheese were dry and not very cheesy or spicy. Next time, I'd buy only chicken (or maybe some pork too) and steer clear of the cheese. While there, I picked up some chips, salsa, Mexican pastries and a few other odds 'n ends (grocery-related). Friendly staff, a lot of items packed into a small space. 4 stars

They sell warm tamales here at 9:30 am. I've been trying to find some good cheese jalapeño tamales in the area. These had the cheese & green chopped chiles kind of mixed into the middle of the tamale. This is a market so it's to go. I could have ripped it apart and eaten it in the car. Instead, I took it home, put it on a plate and added my own red & green salsa which made it better. Not a lot of places just sell tamales to go any more so this was nice.

Still good after all of these years. My mom would give me $5 to get lunch which typically consisted of 2 tamales, a bag of chips and a soda. The tamales are a little stingy on the meat now and 3 times as expensive, but they still have that flavor I remember from my childhood.

Nice local market! I came to try the tamales. I got a chicken and cheese & jalapeño tamale. They were around $3 each. I'd say they were pretty standard in terms of flavor, but still yummy! The masa was moist and there was a good filling ratio. They have a pretty big selection of Mexican snacks and pastries to try out as well. This is on the corner of a street in a somewhat residential area. There was plenty of street parking when I went!

First do not let outside appearances fool you. This is a nice clean corner market. The people who run the shop are very nice. The Tamales definitely get 4 stars. The prices are very reasonable it has everything you want from a little corner shop. We will definitely be going back.

OMG those tamales were the stellar part during my 4th of July this year! My friend found this store the same morning when I reminded to bring some different stuff from the usual 4th of July, as it was an international party in Menlo Park and the organizer requested something from the guests countries of origin. The closest we could find in Mountain View was this store (open during the same 4th of July day, yay!) and he ordered tamales for a whole village, from vegetarian, to filled with chicken and pork, all juicy, fresh and tasty. Everybody loved them! I liked this little corner store and the owner was very entertaining explaining stories of the cultural differences between Spanish speaking countries. This is the place for you to get your tamales in Mountain View, good price and freshly made.
